The Internship Program at Cagwin & Dorward provides the student a position working alongside landscape professionals and learning the job from the ground up. Interns will develop an overall appreciation for the special demands and an understanding of the nature of work in the Commercial Landscape Industry.
The internship experience will allow students to explore areas of interest, while providing a competitive edge over non-experienced individuals seeking employment in the landscape industry.
Landscape Maintenance Option: For those interested in specializing in the fastest growing area of the industry. Students will gain experience in equipment operation, turf, shrub and seasonal color maintenance, pest control practices, irrigation management and repair, estimation and sales, and personnel management.
Landscape Construction Option: Focus is on commercial landscape installation. Work experience will include estimation and sales, irrigation installation and repair, planting, equipment service and repair, and management practices.
Qualifications: We are currently limiting our internships to American students, studying in majors related to agriculture, primarily at schools in California. Candidates must be enrolled in an agriculture related 2 or 4 year program and have completed at least one year (full-time) of school. Students must have a G.P.A. of 2.5 in their major. All candidates must have a resume of qualifications. An interview is required. Students must have a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier. Students must provide their own housing.
