African Honey Bee Cagwin & Dorward is becoming part of the BEE solution by working to improve their habitat!

We understand the critical nature of the bee decline. That is why we volunteered to help create, promote and judge the "Häagen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven" Gardens competition at U.C. Davis.

On February 27, 2009 the Sibbett Group of Sausalito,CA was recognized by U.C. Davis for their award winning bee garden design.

The pollinator demonstration gardens will provide year-round, chemical free food source for honey bees, improving their chances during winter months. Seasonal shortages in their food supply can exacerbate health problems for honey bees already challenged by factors such as stress, disease, pesticides and climate change.

So, why are bees so important?

African Honey Bee More than one third of US fruit and vegetable crops are dependent on bee pollination. In recent years, some beekeepers have lost up to 90 percent of their hives.
