News - Holiday Giving, 2010

December 20, 2010

Every day, Cagwin & Dorward practices living it's mission to ". . . enhance our community and the environment". Thankfully, each year end we are able to express this on a larger scale.

Sharing our good fortune, we partner with organizations who work towards improving communities and eco-systems both locally and abroad.

Annually, we contribute 100,000 trees towards global reforestation efforts through Trees For The Future. While reducing our carbon
footprint, we help improve conditions

for rural communities towards becoming more sustainable.

Partnerships in giving continued closer to home. C&D again helped coordinate the Tree of Lights community event in Blackhawk. This fund raiser supports the Hospice Foundation of the East Bay. In addition to helping set-up, our Blackhawk crew also contributed $300.00 towards the charity.

Meanwhile, in the North Bay, Special Projects Manager, Dan Sheehy, partnered with valued property management company SyWest, to contribute to local emergency responders in support if disadvantaged families. C&D contributed $1000.00 to San Rafael's Santa Cop program which distributes toys, boxes of food and turkeys to needy families in San Rafael.

Our holiday greetings tradition continued with seed-embedded cards. The cards are made from 100% recycled fiber with soy-ink print. When planted directly in the soil, the fiber provides protection and nutrients for the seeds to germinate.

Administration sponsors local charities in their Holiday Gift Giving/Donation Drive. Inviting fellow employees to join in this season of sharing, Admin. chose to contribute to two local charities. Ritter Center, San Rafael & Novato Human Needs received nearly $1000.00 in children's toys, everyday essentials and gift cards to meet the needs of the disadvantaged families and homeless individuals in their care.

Dan Sheehy, bested Santa by making a last minute delivery of space heaters to Novato Human Needs. The office space, donated for their "Children's Shopping Day", was without heat on the day of the event. Thanks to Dan, the kids got to choose gifts for their family members in cozy holiday surroundings.

Most of the gifts were geared towards the children of needy families

Gift Certificates ensures everyone gets what they need

Cagwin & Dorward has been fortunate enough to be less effected by the economic down turn than many businesses. We will continue to share with those less fortunate.
