North Bay Manager, Val Hinshaw shared her experience at a recent Earth Day event. . .
“Green Team” Sponsors First Earth Day Event at MGH Greenbrae, CA…At 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in honor of globally celebrated Earth Day, Marin General Hospital’s “Green Team” is sponsoring a tree planting on hospital grounds in honor of a healthy hospital and community. Hospital CEO, David Bradley, together with Vernon Moreno, Executive Director of Support Services, Chuck Prosper, Chief Administrative Officer, and Peggy Dracker, Executive Director of Ambulatory Services will plant two trees in the lovely circular garden. Local Cagwin & Dorward landscaping company generously donates the trees. Additional Earth Day activities include giveaway of organic ice cream from a local Green business, Three Twins Ice Cream, 100 seedling trees, a green sustainable shopping bag from Cagwin and Dorward, and Green Team t-shirts for the first 100 who turn in their “Green Team” Pledge Card. The “Green Team’s” motto is “It Takes A Team to Go Green,” and the overall goal is to awaken enthusiasm and participation throughout the hospital while achieving measurable positive results. As part of a larger vision of sustainable action, the first step is to acknowledge the many forms of recycling already happening in the hospital, and then proceed to develop more programs that save resources. |
On April 22, Marin General Hospital celebrated their first annual Earth Day Event. Like Cagwin & Dorward, their Green Team works to conserve resources through reduction and recycling efforts.

Attendees of the event savored organic ice cream while browsing the displays.
For the event, Cagwin & Dorward donated 2 Crape Myrtle trees. These beautiful trees served as the backdrop to the event's staging, which was also provided by C&D.

Add to that, Coastal Redwood seedlings (with planting instructions), individually packaged in our own reusable "BYOB" bags.

The first 100 lucky attendees to arrive, received these wonderful redwood "BYOB" gift bags.

The BYOB gift bags turn some heads.
The Earth Day event included an awards ceremony, acknowledging the conservation efforts of staff and contributors.

Vernon Moreno, Executive Director of Support Services, addresses attendees and fellow Green Team members.
All were grateful to the LM crew, Tomas Flores & Gustavo Arcos Lopez, for their contributions and hard work.

Conclusion to a successful event.
